Might be ok for the price, especially if you are just looking to do stereo recordings. Saving grace is the USB port that will let you take your recording home and work it over on a PC for mixing and mastering. Might be a little limiting with only two imputs for simultanious recording.

I have been using an MR8 since late september of last year and so far no problems. It does have some limitations though. As walt said you only get two inputs at a time. For me thats not a problem because I am doing the one man band type thing. The second thing is that the Flash media card that comes with it doesnt give you a whole lot of recording time. Again thats not much of a problem for me because I record and dump to my computer. One other thing is that most of the on board effects do very little, in fact I never use them. The reverbs just ring too much. Having said all of that I can also tell you that I am happy with it. It does make nice clean recordings. A friend of mine is working on an independent movie and asked me to help him with some voice over, narrator recordings. I just packed it in a bag and carried it along. That wouldnt had been so easy with a home PC recording set up. So I do like it but I think of it as an extention to my PC. I hope this helps!
