Equipment Check-List (To Be Revised)

I realized moments ago that I've been posting too many damn questions. So, in an effort to stop the problem at its source, and keep from asking a separate question for each piece of equipment I need, as I know will happen, I've decided to boil it down to a list. Here goes.

WHAT I ALREADY DECIDED ON:
1.25GhZ iMac
Pro Tools LE 6.4
Digi002 Control Surface
Amplitube Amp Box modeler
BLUE Baby Bottle Mic
3 low-priced SHURE condenser mics
2-mic phantom power box
EVENT 20/20 studio monitors

WHAT I NEED:
A mic-preamp
Some good studio headphones
A Compressor
A good guitar pre-amp
Whatever else you think I need

Now, I'm going to do a lot of multi-track acoustic guitar + vocals songs, and a lot of full band Beatles Pop type stuff. So, with that in mind, do you have any reccomendations for the things in the "What I need" category? (What company, what model preamp, condesnor or headphones, etc.) And, of course, If I'm missing anything important, tell me. Thanks.

Okay, I'm going to keep all my questions on one thread. I just read, I'm not sure if I read it right, but I read, that Pro Tools does not allow Playback and record simultaneously. So if I'm in the recording room with my headphones on, I won't be able to hear what I already recorded while I lay down my vocals? This sounds farfetched, but I wanted to check.

"Pro Tools does not allow Playback and record simultaneously." That would kind of defeat the purpose of multi-tracking. I'm an analog guy but that sounds pretty fishy to me. I'm sure that you would be able to record and playback at the same time. We did a recording in a studio with Pro Tools and we could record and playback simultaneously.

As far as advice on gear that can be tuff. Different people like differnt things. I love old Ashly compressors. You can pick them up on Ebay cheap. Something a like a "SC-50". Headphones I really like my "AKG 240-M's"... but there are a lot of good ones out there.

I've found that what else I need is a list that never stops growing. Depending on your situation a headphone amp is a nice thing to have.

Pro Tools is perfectly capable of recording and playing back at the same time...
