Hi guys, I might be looking to get some monitors soon, and im aware that there are two types: active and passive. Can someone please tell me the difference between them? Which is better? or is it not to do with quality?
Thanks

passive=not powered
active has an amp built in
passive needs external amp
you could have figured that out for yourself very easily by reading the description of a passive vs. active monitors at musicians friend

Active monitors have an amp built into them, this has the advantage that the amp will be perfectly matched to the driver units (the speakers cones) thus resulting (most of the time) in higher quality.
