If you havent seen the video it is a must see. The only channel with big enough stones is FUSE, which used to be called MUCH Music. A canadian video channel available on cable and satalite.

It is about time someone painted the real picture of the corperate stranglehold on the music industry. The video is very angry, as it should be to make the point. It is laced with printed facts streaming accross the screen while they and some fans completely destroy a record store. I personally havent deciphered all the words Jonathon Davis is singin yet, but the printed lines of facts coming accross the screen shout the real meaning of the tune anyway.

Here is a link to a great little tidbit about the video, www.billboard.com/bb/dail...t_id=1000472759 nice easy reading and a link to there website.

Howard Stern who's radio show is syndicated by none other then the largest of the radio conglomorates Clear Channel communication had his radio show pulled off 6 of the stations by the company for indecancy concerns. Anyway the point of the Stern thing is they have done a remix with him and some of his comments towards the industry and the totalatarion control they have taken of said industry.

I will stop ranting now and just give a final link for those of you who cant view FUSE. This will take you directly to Korns website. www.korn.com Then simply launch the Korn Player and watch the video, and then listen to the remix as the remix is only audio. You may need to view the video several times to read all the trivia, but I gaurantee you will have a differant view of the music industry after seeing and reading.

PS, you can down load the remix in mp3 format.

OK enough ranting now. Go watch the video!

That's a cool idea. I tried watching the video on the "Korn Player" but it didn't really work for me. Anyways, they're all tied into the same machinery they're attacking, but who am I to complain. At least they're getting the word out. I agree with Davis in most everything he said. My main idea is that the music industry is primarily responsible for their own economic problems mainly due to short-sightedness, lack of willingness to take risk, and not understanding basic economic priniciples like supply and demand. Stop raising prices and you will have more demand which will more than cover the lost revenue per album sale. Ok, I'll stop ranting now too.

Ya, if ya get the chance to listen to the remix with Howard Stern in it, he speaks most of what you miss in the video. It may take a couple of listens, but you can catch most of it.

And ya, Johnathon was skeptical about biting the hand that feeds him, but even though they didnt want to release the video at first, he kept on them to do it. And he even has a few blips that come accross the screen that do mention that he makes money and yes it is a radio freindly tune at 3 minutes. But he still questions the validity of it all.

Thanx Minkus, I appreciate that coming from you. I do realize the big record company is important to some, but they have as coolo put it, cut their own throats by doing what they have been doing. It makes me cringe to think of all the music peeps miss because of the control the media conglomorates have over what they think the public should and shouldn't hear.

And cool, rant away. I started this thread just for that purpose. As independant artist's I think we can all feel some thump from the hand that would just as soon swat us away as no big thing. But the truth wont be told untill the masses can decide what they like and dont like. And not enough is getting out there to even give the buying public a tiny taste of how many good bands and artist's really are out there.

I will hold FUSE in very high regard for not letting the big guns determine what we can and cant see or hear. I also realize they are a bussiness as well and must play some popular stuff in rotation, but they do seem to not be affriad to put something new on and let the public decide by voting online what stays and what goes. Their rotation is wholely based on that and I cheer them on for being like that.

Well enough from me for now. I hope more peeps take a look at that and decide for themselves.

That's a good idea, what FUSE does, you know, the keep in rotation what people vote on. I like that. Let the people decide.

Ya, they seem to play a huge variety of stuff. They do have genre specific shows, but for the most part they are ten time easier to watch then MTV. And you get to see something new every day as well.

We have a radio station here now whos big thing is to mention the fact they are not owned by Clear Channel Communication, they have 3 tower arrays and are spreading some good music at last. Still a little warry of the last time the station that occupied those frequancies got snatched up and trashed by a major corp. so they still play some favorite rotation, but they have two new programs to cater to local as well as new and unheard of stuff.

yeah I listen to the local college stations just because they're not owned by Clearchannel . While I did like the video (PLayed it with the sound down though, can't stand Korns music) I did find it kind of hypocritical to be making suge a huge message about how the industry sucks, and yet be such a huge part of the industry. And before anyone can jump to it, yes I know that I am very hypocritical a lot of the time. :)

All in all though I do think that was a good video, and I hope more kids get the message

He isnt really saying the industry sucks, he is just making peeps more aware of exactly how it works, and why you only see and or hear certain artists on MTV, or radio. If you get the chance download the remix with Howard Stern in it, he says some things as well that illuminated some things I never gave a whole lot of thought to. Or at least not more then a few seconds here and there.

I realize the industry will always be there, but the corperate monster has taken total control fo what they think is good or not. We no longer have a say in what we want to hear as the listening public, they force feed it to the masses via the monster media such as Clear Channel and the MTV/VH1 conglomerate.

I know I rant on about it, but if it were not for the internet, there is tons of new music I or my children may never have heard.

OK, I will stop ranting for the time being.
