Hello, Im not a proffesional engineer or anything, I just want to record my band's compositions. Im not expecting studio quality sound but I want a "Good" sound. Good enough to listen to it in my Cd player in the car. Well, Here's the equip im planning on buying.

PIII 866Mhz
384 Of Ram
20GB of HD, Purely on Recordings
SB Live Soundcard
Cakewalk Homestudio.

Behringer UB1222-FXPRO
Nady Mics.. pfft.

Do you guys think this would cut it? What im planning to do is plug the mainouts of the mixer directly into the Line In of the soundcard.

Honest opinion?

The PC's a bit underspec'd - try to get a Pentium III 1Ghz+ or better and as for the Mic's, I've never used them - but others avoid nady like the plauge - save up that little bit extra for some SM mic's from shure.

jues.

I disagree, I did recordings for years on a PIII 600b and it was fine, your biggest limitation will be your RAM and sound card. The SB Live will work, a few people here use it, but it will be a limitation. and the RAM is best to have 512MB or more.

However, that said, yes, it will work, flamethe band (another HRC member) does his record on half of that PC and it turns out well.

Good luck and have fun!

up till this year i was p3 500. understand that it will only make 1 track, so youve gotta mix well before you hit the pc. but ya itll cut it just fine. for a cheap upgrade, add to your memory- that will help alot- and make sure nothing else is running on the pc, no norton, no popup blocker, no nothing but the recording software!

That would do the job no problem, I used a P3 800 for the last album I did and it worked out fine and I was running 8 to 12 tracks WITH plug in effects such as reverbs!!!

My good friend records stuff all the time and he has a P2 333Mhz system.
