this emagic 'sound diver' program is the worst example of computer programming i have ever seen. but i just downloaded the 'patchwizard' demo for editing POD patches, and WOW! what a difference. complete, easy, no headaches, no problems.
are there any other editor/librarians that will edit POD patches or are these two it? i'm going to have to spring for something, as i just cant stand this *&@ sounddiver anymore.

Feb 14, 2004 04:39 pm There are some premade control panels for the POD that work in Cakewalk, they are pretty sweet, but seeing how you use Cubase, they won't be much good to you.
Feb 14, 2004 07:11 pm gotcha. i think these are the only two editors out there.

Feb 15, 2004 10:12 pm forty, go get sound diver version 2 from Line 6. It is much better then the original. I love using sound diver, but it is a very barberic interface to say the least. That is why I wrote my own controller in CakeWalk to use for editing and controlling the POD.
And yes there are other editor/librarians out there, but they are also about $400.00 and you better be running a truckload of synths to justify it.
By the way, were did you find the patch wizard thing? I would like to try that one out.

patchwizard is AWESOME. i'm gonna have to register this thing. only 37 bucks if i remember correctly. the interface looks just like a real POD. and, unlike every version of sound diver i've tried (i have the latest one) there are absolutely no problems with midi communications.
i could never get sound diver to talk to my POD. there were about 5 different kinds of errors, the instructions were written by a german who didnt know english very well and seemed to have a bit of lead-poisoning going on, and it never made a bit of sense. i started to even become superstitious about doing things in a certain order, but even that didnt matter in the end. sound diver just refused to be reasonable no matter what.
but patchwizard seems to automatically configure itself and searches out your device and sets itself. just fantastic.
i'd be curious to know how in the world you wrote a controller. are you way into programming? i seem to remember reading something about cakewalk being tailor-made for users to create little sub-programs using a special language.
Feb 16, 2004 04:25 am whoa, I might score that too...SoundDiver never did much for me either...patchwizard looks awesome.

Feb 16, 2004 05:55 pm Can the patch wizard access the extra cabinets and amp models and such. If it can I may try that as well.
And I truly never had a lick of trouble with sound diver at all even with the first one. It always worked splendid for me without a hitch.
And yes forty, cakewalk has cal language programs, which is their own thing, and then you can write your own controllers for anything midi with their StudioWare panels. It is the only reason I will keep Sonar 2.2 installed as 3.0 only read them, you cannot edit or create new ones. I have pnaels for all my synths, Processors, and the POD. You can build them to control anything that can recieve midi data. And yes for me it is coded like I use for programming contorllers at work, so its a no brainer, but it can be leraned with the tutorials as well.
Feb 16, 2004 06:16 pm yeah, it has everything, it looks like. try the demo if you like.

Feb 18, 2004 07:54 pm I will, it looks like they are mostly geared towards Line 6 stuff. And it looks as though their librarian is a bit better then Sound diver. I never did like the librarian part much, always just used it to edit patches then shot them out into Sonar via sysex.
