Editing/Creating Midi drum tracks

Hi all,
I do my drum tracks by programming MIDI tracks in cubase to make my keyboard play drum sounds (which I then record back into cubase)

This is time consuming/restrictive as
1 - I have to spend ages clicking away on midi tracks to get a decent beat going
2 - I then have to re-record the wav track back into cubase every time I want to change the drums in my songs

I know there must be a better ways to use my keyboard to create drum tracks in cubase. What would you guys suggest?

Gear: Cubase VST32, audiophile 24/96, Korg Triton LE

I believe the Triton has an onboard sequancer which can be synced to Cubase or your audiophile. And rather then clicking each beat with a mouse, why dont you simply play them on the keyboard. It is not nearly as time consuming as teh mouse, although with some practice using the mouse is not bad either. Anyway, if you use the Tritons sequancer, you can record eack drum track seperately, you can also do this in Cubase. Then as the time arises, you simply change what you need adn move on.

Aside from that, why are you turning them into audio before you know you are happy with them or if they fit into the mix. I generally leave them as midi for the ease of changing drum sounds or what ever before I go into final mix. I use Sonar and just fly stuff in and out as I see fit.

I would suggest you try leaving them as midi tracks, which you can just mute if you decide to change a beat but arent sure if youll like it or not. And then in the end you have more to work with as a far as if you suddenly need to change a drum sound, it isnt allready comitted to audio and is easier to change.
