Electrix warpfactory vocoder analog
Is this unit any good? Don't wanna spend money on something that is less than decent.

How much are they asking. Dude I own one and wouldnt sell it for the world. It is one piece of gear that is just right, not too much and not too little. It is a simple vocoder with some extra tweaks on it. It can do some pretty funky things to a voice when combined with the right carrier tones. I bought one brand new just before they quit making them. I also use their Filter Factory. If your not sure what a vocoder does let me know and Ill give ya a brief rundown.

But let me know how much their asking and Ill tell ya if its too much. I know what someone offered for mine, but I wouldnt part with it.

That is not bad. Let me check with a buddy of mine on the street value of that unit. I am not sure, but I think it should go used for a bit less. But again it is on the buyer how much he would want the unit. I know I paid about $129.00 for mine brand new through my Pro Audio guy at GC when they had been out for about 6 months. But I have had offers to sell it for around $175.00. So I dont think $150.00 would be to bad. Make sure you get the manual with it, as it has some kool features you wont just stumble upon. And I might add it is also midi capable, so you can tweak it live on the fly from your DAW. And it also will send the midi control messages as you tweak the knobs live as you record.

sweet, so yeah 150 doesn't sound bad, and it's right in my price range. I haven't a clue how i'd set it up for MIDI though since I only have a MIDI soundcard 1in/1out and a midi keyboard 1in/1out so to use it best with MIDI i'd need to get a midi interface with a few more ins and outs correct?

Nope, just set it to a channel maybe 16 so it doesnt see anything the keyboard see or send. You can just daisy chain it like this. PC midi out to the Warp midi in, Warp midi out to the keyboard midi in, keyboard midi out to the PC midi in. But it doesnt even really need to be hooked up via midi unless you want to do some automation type stuff with it. It will work just fine all on its own with you setting it and such manually. the only reason I have mine hooked via midi is because its in a rack that I cant just reach over and tweak, so I do it via a controller face I built in Sonar.

yeah I'm not that sonar or midi savy so I'll probably just tweak the knobs manually. Alright so then if I had two midi synths I could daisy chain them without having them interfere with each other?

I saw an add for something else in that same type of gear. And nice little allin one unit. Its in my John reading material so I will look for it again and post it here when I find what it was. The price was in yourange as well for brand new so it might all be good.

Dude, here is the page at MF. service.bfast.com/bfast/c...mp;bfmtype=gear they have it on sale for $99.00 looks like a good deal to me. And here is the page at Alesis if ya wanna check the specs. alesis.com/products/modfx/ Looks like a nice straight forward unit to me. And the price is right as well. It is oneof the recomended gifts on the Electronic Musician christmass list.
