The Hughes and Ketner Warp 7 is a cheap stack. It was built more towards down tuned guitars. I played it and thought it was pretty heavy. But I still like the Tone of a Marshall, or Mesa better. The Warp 7 is just a good stack at a cheap price. Check into it and see what you think

A decent amp will help oyut a lot, and I do like mesa, but even a marshall stack can sound crappy if not mic'd right. I have always liked mesa amps though, and I want to get one of the direct recording heads they make... those look sweet

I have a mark IV In use for live gigs, I have tried to use it for recording but it is way to much hiss in the map...after hooking up my rack effects it gets really noisy...I think the efx send and return lines are not the best..but for live gigs man it kicks ask!!!

the mesa sound is one of my favorites. i wouldn't pass up a chance at a mesa. no sir. not that i am very knowledgable about guitar amps, but my prejudiced, stereotyped opinion indicates that nothing does metal like a mesa.

all I know about mesa is that if it's good enough for Billy Corgan (one of my idols) it's good enough for me.

Ya, but most bignamed guys have custom builds of them. Jimmy Page uses (or at leastused) a Marshall JCM900 (or JMC900 or something like that) so one of my firends bought one (cuz page is HIS hero) and it's the single worst sounding amp I have ever heard...I usually take note of what gear my influences use, but it doesn't cloud my decision-making much...

I agree db..I open for Pat Travers at a ride for life gig. Guitar center donated all the gear for him to use at the show...he tried 4 diffrent jcm900 before he found one he could play on...It could have been diffrents in the speakers or maybe even the tube configeration..every one had a diffrent sound, all the same model of amp and from the same store. who knows maybe one was built on monday and the others were built on friday...pick your poison carefully...don't cheat the tone you are looking for!!!

Yup, db is correct

Most of the guys you hear playing Boogie's are not using a stock amp config. Also, I think if you want that Rectifier sound go with a duel rectifier NOT the triple.

Also, certain JCM 900 marshalls are pretty darn good stock... (ie. the duel channel models that Satriani uses)...the single channel versions really suck they use a crappy sounding voltage boost for the pre-gain stage) If you want good marshall tone look at a plexi or the JCM 800.
