Echo or M-Audio - which one?

So, I decided to take my *@#% Luna II back to the store..

I think i'm going for Delta 1010 or Layla24. They are both good cards to work with (I hope). The trouble is that I can't decide, which one to choose.

BTW do both of these cards work under XP?

It would be nice to get some opinions to make my decision easier..

Keep up the spirit!

There is some easy ways to help your descision, what type of software are you going to record with? Yes, they both have XP drivers, however, Echo cards don't play well with non-Intel PC's, if you have an Intel CPU and chipset on your motherboard, plus you plan to use an ASIO-compliant program to multitrack (Steinberg's Cubase or Nuendo) I would consider going with the Layla for best performance, if any of those conditions are false, then go with the M-Audio...

I'll be using Cubase XP and yes I have P4 as you can see in my previous topic related to my *lovely* Creamware card =p

So, in this situation I should go for Layla, I think...?

BTW I checked out some specs for both of these cards, and they seem quite much alike, but layla is slightly better in dynamic range but delta has lower distortion.. I'm not so familiar with these terms, but anyway Layla could be my choice..

Just to note; The Delta 1010 works with ASIO. That how I have mine configured and it works fine.

I would go for the Layla, Echo and Steinberg invented ASIO, and honestly I think they have the best implementation of it. Steinberg and Echo work very closely together, their software and hardware work very well together...

I use Echo Gina and Nuendo and it is much better than when I use Sonar, for example.

BTW, it's Cubase SX, not XP :-P hehe

Personally, I would go with Layle, not-withstanding still4given's input, which is a decent testimonial for M-Audio ASIO as well. I have never used their ASIO, and Noize does not either as he uses Sonar mainly.

I did use ASIO with my Delta, and it was OK. The latency could not get as low as I can get it with WDM driver's in Sonar though, and when using software synth's that is important to me. So you have some choice's to think about depending on what you want ou of the card.

I was not aware Sonar would work AT ALL with ASIO?!?!?!

Sonar does not work with ASIO, I used it in Cubase. Sonar work's with the WDM driver's, not ASIO driver's.
