I was so anxious to get something recorded, I did a song today. I didn't really bother for that 'perfect' take on any of it, so it's pretty rough. Fake drums, no bass.

Have a listen! It's called "Missus C" on the album "The road from home to here"

Very nicely done Tadpui! Alot better than my first attempt with my new toys.

I really like the song, though I think you should probably shorten it a bit, still the 5+ minutes went by pretty quick! I hear some Rod Stewart influence, mostly in the style, your voice is better than His <G>. The mix is sounds real good on my speakers, nothing I would change on it that stood out. The kick drum filled it out nicely to where the missing bass doesn't detract from song, just a super job IMO.

Hey thanks for listening, Dog. I agree about the length of the song. I've already omitted the 1st chorus, 1/2 of the last verse and another repetition of the chorus at the end in order to make room for the long solo. The song used to be 7 1/2 minutes long. I just had to have a long solo :-)

A friend of mine listened to it and said that it had a "The Faces" vibe, so you're not alone in the Rod Stewart comparison. I never woulda thunk!

dude, this is class! love it. the lead guitars cool - present enough to be class, but simple enough to fit in. like your voice, and the acoustic sounds cool. good song too.

wanna do a backing vocal and guitar part on one of mine, if i send ya it? that'd be coooool

yeahhhhhhh. that's that accoustic funk. I'm a big fan of that song. It had me with my one eye half cocked with a half smile, and my head nodding, and my hand bouncing. That's a sure sign that I like it. The lyrics are real solid. You've got the music part down. I'm gonna be afraid once you get all the production parts down (the recording, mixing, and mastering). Keep it up. Oh yeah, and I love the harmony singing (but I always do).

I really like it too. Nice, clean and simple production. I would love to hear a version with bigger drums and bass!

I'd love to hear it, but once again I cannot access anything on Nowwhere Radio's site. "File not found" per media player.

I have that problem from work. It must be firewall-related or something.

What you can do is log in to NWR and download the song...I have it set up to only allow downloads from members.

Hey, thanks for all of the kind words, everybody! It definitely gives a boost to the enthusiasm for doing this, and compliments from you all mean a lot to me.

I'm trying to add a bass line that a friend mailed to me, but I think the CD that he sent has a problem. Hopefully I'll have a bass-enhanced version up soon.

Flame: yes, I'd love to do a collaboration! Try sending me an email at cprewett at kc dot rr dot com.

Ah, well... see, I can technically stream music here at work, since it doesn't involve saving the file to the computer here, but I can't download music files. If I do, no more job.

C'est la vie...

OK, I put up a version that has a bass line. I think the bass may be too strong, but I can't really tell. The stereo that I mix on has a subwoofer, so all of the low end comes across really strong.

flame: e-mail received, and I'd definitely like to help out where I can!

TCbug: I totally forgot that I also posted this on my webspace here:

home.kc.rr.com/tadpui/missus_c_1.mp3

You should be able to stream it from there.

Sounds great! Bass sounds fine here, although mine plays thru a sub-woofer as well.

the bass ads a nice bit of fullness to the song. It still rocks dude. I'm listening on headphones, but I can see how the bass might really growl on a dedicated sub.

Sorry TCBug, I've since removed the song from that site...It's my personal webspace from my ISP and I only get 5MB to store stuff, so it's only 1 song at a time there :)

Thanks for the compliment, Tony!
