Cable/Connector question, Don't know what to do.

What is the difference in frequency range between a signal sent through a balanced 1/4" jack cable and one through and unbalanced 1/4" jack cable? (is there loss?).
I have a Behringer MIC100 Tube preamp which has a balanced 1/4"jack out and an XLR out. What is the best way to connect it to a line channel of my Fostex VM04 Digital Mixer (which only has unbalanced 1/4" jack inputs)?
Could you please help, so I can start recording. Do I buy a short unbalanced 1/4"jack cable, a balanced 1/4" jack cable or do I buy a balanced XLR cable and use an impedance corrected XLR to Jack convertor? Do I need an impedance correction? Thank you very much for your time!
