Mixing Without Shoes

I read the other day that a lot of Engineers mix with their shoes off in order to feel the bass move through the floor. It's a theory that the bass moves from the lower part of your body up to the higher part, so in order to accuratly feel it they mix shoeless. Does anyone here practice this method?

i play live without my shoes for similar purposes. in my mind, the more connected to the music you are (even in ways that might seem silly to some), the more creativity and soul you will express.

If I took my shoes off, people would complain.

I don't really wear shoes unless I have to.

My attitude towards shoes has changed a little this weekend. I am a sandles type of guy by nature, this weekend I stepped on a &^$^%$&*^ NAIL helping my in-laws remove and get rid of a deck and fence.

Thanks Jamie, ya it's a lot better, I can at least walk now, it was pretty deep, I had to hold the board down with my other foot to pull my foot off of the nail (which hurt worse than it did going in) and ya, I wound up in urgent care on Saturday for 2 hours waiting for a damn shot that took them 30 seconds to give to me...now my arm is more sore than my foot is...seem counter-productive.

The worst part was that is puctured right in the middle of the front of my foot, right behind my middle toe, so it's a big part of walking, kinda tough to not use...

oh jeez... i can feel it pulling out :Oo

not a good place for a deep wound. and isn't the emergency room a joke? they won't even touch you until they triple check your insurance. I bet Canadians don't have that problem.

maybe you should stay away from inlaws for awhile? sounds like a rowdy crowd.

Db,
Been there done that man. It hurts. I've got scars from where the nail went in the bottem and out the top my foot, damaged the bone. I walk with a limp now. It's not fun. Glad to hear you're okey though. Nails suck.

I heard another roumour that one engineer took off ALL his clothes while mixing in order to ensure a hot mix!

"I heard another roumour that one engineer took off ALL his clothes while mixing in order to ensure a hot mix!"

LOL, i wonder what the song in question was!

"Mixing Without Shoes" sounds like a good name for a song, "oooh, i'm mixing without shoes, la la la..."

i think i'll go write it...

Nails suck. Had one once. Through the bottom of the shoe, in the bottom of my foot, out the top, and finally through the top of my shoe. Dead center of my foot. Likewise I had to step on the board with my other foot to get the nail out. Coulnd't walk for a week. Hope you heal soon!

Ya, sub bass is bone conduction transmission. I guess you will just have to try it and see if your floor is carrying enough bass to make a difference.

The nail thing. I did that somewhere around 9 or 10. Same senerio. Step on nail, use other foot to hold board while de-impailing my foot. Go home pour blood out of boot. Yup, boot, pull over half height wellington type. Then my mother makes me a poltus out of milk and bread and straps it to the bottom of my foot and gives me a crutch. The nail was better. The poltus drew so hard my foot muscles would react by tensoning. No infection resulted however. Not something I would care to repeat. Heal fast Db.

get this....

our drummer was mowing his lawn, but the builders hadn't tidied up very well, and he ended up shooting a 9 inch nail (i know) through his foot and out the other side. only problem was it was only sticking out from the point, the head (flat head) was in his foot, as was part of his shoe.

thats how come we met. i was in the hospital bed next to him! (two fractured legs, arm etc...long story)

just thought i'd make you a ll feel better.

there's still no excuse for sandals though, that's just wrong;p

I'm wearing sandals today at work, not very business like but we're having one of our very rare sunny days here in the UK and temperatures are up to 30C (not sure what that is in the old money maybe 80F?)

Now bare in mind we don't have air conditioning, cos this is England we're talking about!

Feet weren't meant to be trussed up all day in material and leather its not healthy!

Mind you, sandals will never look as cool as cowboy boots (which I always wear on stage)!
