How do you set up your practice space?

Thought this might be an interesting topic to spur a little bit of conversation...and something I have been thinking about recently.

I have always liked amps with the kick back cabinet style to it sits on the floor like a stage monitor...but it seems bass amps are the only amps that commonly come like that, guitar amps don't as much...so, unless you prop amps up on a table or, have a stand that tilts it, the sounds stays down around the floor.

The guys I have been jamming with have it down on the floor...so the best sound hits our ankles...seems tilting everyone back would allow a better sound, and probably be able to practice overall quieter as well.

In the old days we all propped amps up at chest or head level and ran full power anyway, such was youth, it worked, but today I think a little more about overall volume, disturbing the kids upstairs in the house and stuff like that...

How do yous guys set up your practice spaces?

I havn't performed in a very long time but I strongly prefer to set up the practice area how a stage would be set up. Haveing band practices where everyone stands in a circle drives me nuts.

I have since moved from this house pictured below and no longer have jam space. If I were to do it again it would be the same way though.

As a band we would be facing the same direction as we would if we were performing. We each had our amps in front of ourselves so we could adjust as necessary.

Back of the jam space (there are stairs at the back left that lead to the studio area upstairs)

Wow, dude, you had some awesome space!

Fortunately, we don't have a drummer yet which makes it a bit easier to set up...this last practice we just lined all amps up against one wall facing us, and I finally had an amp of my own, rather than DI thru the pa...and it sounded great.

Once we get a drummer in the mix it'll be trickier...for right now, BFD Eco is working. LOL

I like the circle thing, zek...I have never liked practicing like we are on a stage, just never made sense to me personally unless you are intentionally practicing some choreographed aspects of performance rather than the music. But that's just me.
