Hey guys,
I have a new song that needs some mix critique. I finally learned how to use the vocoder in Reason. Any comments regarding the bass frequencies are especially helpful though any and all comments are welcomed of course.

May 06, 2013 11:15 pm Hey man, I'm outta town, but I gave it a quick listen using my Koss Porta-Pros. Yeah, not exactly accurate, more hi-fi style clip-on headphones, but the mix sounds pretty decent as with other stuff I listen to.
I think it could use a little space, maybe in the synth elements and maybe something to help gel everything together a bit, but other than that, it sounds decent to me.
I can't really make comments involving bass or other frequencies using these kinda headphones (or any headphone really) Other than I don't feel it's overpowering and it seems to be fitting in pretty decently.
I'll give a more detailed opinion after I get home, so probably Thursday.
May 08, 2013 06:52 pm Dude, this is pretty damn cool...you know, not in my wheel house, but I dig it...there is one quick little riff after the first and third phrases of a verse (I think) that sounds like a cheap walmart synth to me, that one sound I find somewhat annoying and not fitting into the tune, but love the beat, underlying synths and the synth'd voice is very cool...I like the vox too, cool voice...fits great.
I wonder what "dat bass" would sound like with some harmonizing along with it to add some emphasis.

I made a few changes to the 2nd "wal mart" synth, I reduced the amount of delay it had and changed the eq a bit.
Unfortunately, I'm about to move at the end of the week and all my recording/music stuff is going to end up in storage until I can get my living situation straightened out. So won't be able to make any more changes (or any more music for that matter) for a while.
Anyways, I'll get this little 4 song EP finished before then (I'll post a link when I'm done), and a "cartoon theme song" that I'm doing for a project I'm working on with some friends. Then it's all getting packed away.
