Thinking about getting another large diaphragm dynamic mic.

So yeah, I have a Beta 52A, and an SM7b which pretty well cover the low frequency territory, but with my current financial situation, I'm a bit over-protective of that SM7b, hah!

I'm thinking about getting a cheap-ish decent mic for bass cabs. Something in the $150 range. Any recs?

Also, consequently, Audio-Technica has brought back their ATM25 as a limited edition model. But it's $280 bones. >_<

I didn't have a second bass mic with me at the live session I did, so I threw an sm57 on the bass cab. It did "okay" but I'd like to get something a bit more low-frequency friendly, heh.

I'm also probably going to get some 1/4 TRS cables to have on hand. I'm thinking about 4 or 6 20-ish ft. cables, which I can get off monoprice for pretty cheap. (I really like the XLR cables I got from them. when I was getting all this stuff a few months ago)

I guess I could always get another Beta 52A for $180-ish. But I'm just wondering what else is out there that would work well.

EDIT: Hmm, the Senn e602 is about the right price range. Opinions?
Also, sorry bout the other thread. My tablet hung a bit, and I didn't think it posted, but I deleted the post. Well, the text anyway.

Perhaps a used Beyer M88...? Heil PR20?

Hmmm, yeah, I've heard some good things about the Heil mics. I think the PR40 was mentioned a number of times in my looking around. The PR20 looks like it's actually cheaper than the e602.

Oh, just checked Amazon. There is a PR20-UT (same mic sans fancy packaging/case I think) going for $99. O_o

Might have to seriously consider that.

Hmmm, further looking has led me to believe that for stage use, the PR22 might be the way to go. They also have a Utility version for about $115. I've read the PR20 has quite a bit of handling noise, but the PR22 is basically a PR20 with the handling noise much improved upon. Well under my self-imposed budget too.

The Beta 52A is awesome. Why can't you just stick with that for now? For bass I would just run that a a Sans Amp. Would give you great flexibility and options.

BH, I see your view point, and I'm not ditching the 52A by a longshot, heh. But the 52A is being used on the kick.

I just want to add a mic to A) flesh out the options and flexibility of the mic locker and B) have something that can be an all around utility mic, but also plays nicely with bass cabs.

Anyway, as my mentor has said so often (and it's become ingrained in me now) better to have something and not need it, than to not have it and etc. etc. I really need to stop using that phrase, hah! That PR22-UT seems to be a great mic, and it's not much more than an SM57. Sure, it doesn't come with the extra grills and the more fancy pouch, but I don't need all that.

I think it would make a nice all around mic, and provide a different "flavor" in some cases, come in handy on a bass or guitar cab but also drums and vocals, etc.and I can see myself using it quite a bit. I think I might spring for it.
