I have a Yamaha 01V with built in compressors as well as things line companders etc.... I need help getting started. I am trying to get rid of that lower midrange pop from the vocal mics.

The Yamaha O1V's built in compressors are OK. The biggest issue with them is the fact that you need to clock the desk in order to get the most out of them.

Yamaha built in clocks are horrible. And as a result, they tend to produce slop on the low mids. By purchasing an external clock, all of the low mids that you are hearing will clean up.

Some external clocks can be very expensive. Such as the Apogee Big Ben. www.pssl.com/!HLR4CKWN9YO...er-Word-Clock-s
It is worth the money. But, it is understandable if you don't wish to spend that amount. Some do use the Time Machine. www.fullcompass.com/produ...mpaign=googleps
But I never have. So I can not give you a good opinion of the unit.

Bottom line is that by getting a better clock on the desk, your sound will clean up to where you want it to be.
