Signal routing help

Hi folks.
Just need some help with my signal routing! I'm running Pro tools with a M-Audio NRV10 soundcard then have a few bits of outboard (eq, comp etc.)

How can I audition the outboard gear and record it back in to PT?
Do I need a signal splitter/router?

I was thinking

DAW --> NRV --> eq --> compressor ---> NRV ----> DAW
I
I
Monitors

But I can't seem to be able to monitor the signals and record them without re patching stuff

I'm probably just being dumb!

Thanks in advance for your help!

You need to route the output of "pitching" track to an independent loop. The output of the "catching" track goes to the monitoring chain.

Thanks Massive master!

So maybe send the audio via an auxillary that won't get heard through the monitors then the signal coming back in (after the outboard) is the one that gets sent to the monitors?
Think I'm getting there!

Also any experts out there care to show their signal routing and mastering flow?

Thanks again guys

I'm not sure what sort of I/O is on your interface -- But basically what you need to do is send the output to the chain out of some sort of DA output, then through the chain, into an AD input on the "catching" channel. THAT channel goes to the main outputs, feeding the monitoring DA.
