I'll give it a more in-depth listen tomorrow at some point. On first listen, though, the mix overall sounds pretty good. Although it does sound like something is a little overly compressed, but that could be the crap quality of myspace's audio encoder more than anything. :P (since uploading an mp3 re-compresses the mp3 to their standard or whatever, so a lossy format becomes more lossy.)

That might be part of what is happening with what I'm hearing. I'll give it a better listen over my main speakers tomorrow though.

All right, thanks. So it seems roughly acceptable. Your're right, it's a bit heavy on the compression. I used FL Maximus, maybe choose a softer preset.

check out varietyofsound

varietyofsound.wordpress.com/vst-effects/

Bootsy makes some pretty good free VST effects, including reverb, EQ, compression, etc.

Check out Density, and well any of those VST are great..

Also, for limiting, check out AOM invisible limiter:
rekkerd.org/a-o-m-invisib...effect-plug-in/
(that's their older free version, the newer version has to be paid for....not sure if the old version is still available or not)

I use AOM quite a bit for a brick wall limiter, and it works pretty well. I don't know if the old version is still available anywhere though. (think it was version 1.2.2 version 1.3 added features, and acquired a pricetag)

Kjaerhus Audio's Classic Series are also some very nice freebies, unfortunately I think their business went bankrupt last year. :/ But you might be able to still find the classic Series somewhere.

Also, there's a guide here on HRC for using compression effectively.

It's a bit old, but still a great read: Compression Boot Camp:

Very tastey ! I too heard the compression thing, but I really like the style and the music!
