my monitors still sound.
i've got them going out of the C-R jack of the mixer, and the C-R/phone knob affects both. you'd think when i plug in the phones, it would switch off the C-R outs. yamaha mg12/4
what's the obvious solution i'm missing here

May 03, 2011 10:31 am I wouldn't think that at all... Sounds normal to me.

May 03, 2011 12:06 pm Most mixers/DAW would have a control knob to pass the sound out to the headphones, the monitior, or both. The headphones disabling the speaker outputs is typically a function of Windows audio drivers (not that of ASIO drivers and programs).
In Acid Pro, for example, I can change the output of the Master Channel using a dropdown box on that channel. Same with a BUS. The whole purpose is to allow more flexibility when recording. In the control room, I can potentially have 20 tracks ported to the monitors, but only have a single track (through a bus) ported to the headphones where, lets say, a 2nd guitar track is being recorded.
