Bleh, looks like the same attacks that started April last year for gmail users are still ongoing.
Just had the same symptoms. Wierd mobile device logged in (one from India, one from Brazil) And I use a fairly random string of characters for my passwords.
Anyway, they sent mail out to everyone in my contact list >_< and I think even some that were not in my contacts list. Anyway, I don't think they got in by knowing the password. I'm thinking gmail still has some loophole in their security infrastructure that ne'erdowells are still attacking.
Fking hate mail spammers.
>_<

Mar 11, 2011 07:27 am Ew, that sounds like a drag, I wonder if this is happening on Google Apps as well...if it does I know A LOT of people that might be screwed.

Mar 11, 2011 11:42 am Just an FYI... there is a tool in Hotmail that allows you to copy/backup all your Gmail to your Hotmail account.
Mar 11, 2011 12:02 pm That's interesting, but I'll say this, if my Google Account gets hacked, email is the least of my concerns. Oi!

Mar 11, 2011 03:58 pm Ouch. Well, I don't think they got in via my password, which I just beefed it up , and started using the 2-step authentication.
I also sent out a formal apology e-mail to everyone in my contact list, and did some cleaning and removing old defunct contacts.
I started a second gmail account just in case as well.
