wow, i gotta say i just watched the promo vid on it and i'm drooling....for those who don't know, i still use and love sonar 3PE, and still, to this day, can't afford to upgrade....too mucha splurge for where i'm at and what i got goin' on now...but i digress.

i wanna talk about where roland is takin' the company. i've been a roland and cakewalk user my entire digital recording life...starting with the old vs-840 that recorded onto zip discs (do they still make those things anymore?) later i upgraded to the 1680 and loved it, at that time i bought my groovesynth and cakewalk professional 8 and a little midi adapter (ahem interface) that plugged into my printer port......gettin' my head around gettin' it all to work together took me a few years but i was on this path.....fast foward to sonar 1XL, by this point i decided to ditch the 1680 completely and go strictly computer based recording. later i had the somewhat nostalgic experience of working on a 2480 and found it quite intuitive.

i love roland and i love cakewalk but i feel so doggone strange about them being together....surely this means some sweet hardware on the way with full integration (sounds like PT). and perhaps some of cakewalk's midi sequencing logic will drift into roland products...but something still doesn't feel right to me about this merger. shouldn't this be a dream come true for me?

I love my VS-2400 and still plan to use it for quite some time. It is awesome for tracking. Been an avid Sonar user as well and just recently upgraded to X1 for quite cheap really. I haven't had a chance to use it too much though but what i have seen it works awesome.

I upgraded to Sonar X1PE from 4PE. A few of the commands have been moved around such as the Bounce to Track feature, now listed under the drop-down tab "Track". If you open projects that you did in the older versions you might not be able to export the audio into a different format. My older files will only export and save in the WME wave format.

I just upgraded from Sonar HS 7 XL to Sonar X1. So far, so good, although downloading 19Gb takes a long time, and a lot of patience to get everything running the way you think it should.

My set up is almost exclusively a combination of Roland, Edirol and Cakewalk. I've been using Roland since my first electronic piano from 1977 - the Roland EP10, and then Cakewalk since 2008. I'm still continually amazed at what you can do with digital recording, given that I learned on a 4 track reel-to-reel.

So the marriage between Roland and Cakewalk is made in heaven from my perspective. I like the way their gear just works together, sounds good, and is reasonably priced.
