Hello, I'm brand new to the forum and I apologize if there is a section where I was supposed to introduce myself and I didn't. I have a question about my monitoring setup and if anyone out there has a solution, it would be greatly appriciated.
Currently I am using a Zoom HD16 as a recording device, and it has the capability to run as an interface for Cubase as well as transfer recorded tracks to the PC to be edited in Cubase. I have a pair of M-Audio powered monitors plugged into my PC audio-out but I would also like to hear playback on my monitors directly from the Zoom and manually unplugging and plugging my monitor line from the PC to the Zoom is a real pain (needless to say, Im using headphones exclusively for the Zoom). Does anyone know of a device that I can plug both my PC and the Zoom into that can switch back and forth so I can hear either device on the monitors?

Feb 16, 2011 11:01 pm I quickly looked at the Zoom HD16 and surely you don't need any other gear. Can't you hook up your monitors to the HD16 directly and monitor both your PC and the Zoom? You should be able to. This must just be the way you have it hooked up. If this is made specifically as an interface for Cubase you shouldn't require any ohter gear to do what you want. How does the Zoom interface to the PC? PCI card.. USB... Firewire??

Feb 17, 2011 03:42 am Like BeerHunter said, the zoom should also serve as a monitor our for ur PC as well. Perhaps u have to select it as the output device for ur computer, u should be able to do this in ur sound setup or even in Cubase itself.
Feb 18, 2011 12:05 pm Excellent, yea it interfaces via USB, but I think it's only to transfer tracks and to use as a control surface to manipulate already stored material on cubase. I'll check it out though. thank you for the advice.
Feb 20, 2011 01:17 am a simple "mixer" can do this....i find myself using old analog mixers for just such occaisions....check out some of the 4 channel boards from samson, presonus, or even .....behringer, fer less than 200 bucks. these little buggers come in handy in many ways around the home,
