Hey you Berry guys, have you noticed a diff between the UB and MX pre's?

I've read a few threads lately on the Behringer mixers for recording and some have said there is a noticible difference between the sound of the UB mixers and the MX mixers for recording. Some called the MX mixers "harsh" and the UB's smooth. I'm thinking about buying one and would really like to get your assesments.

Thanks, Terry

I noticed a huge difference between my old MX (which Jamie Garrett now has) and my UB. I liked the MX, but the UB IS better.

Also, I heard that the MX series now is using the pre as the UB series as of it's invention. SO if you getone used it may be the older pre, but buy a new one and it will be the "IMP" preamp that the UB comes with.

I can't say that is true, but I have heard that...

I will definately be buying new. At the prices of these Berrys, it doesn't make sense to me, not to have the warrenty and/or service. Actually, the thread I read about them was refering to "new" mixers. It seems that there is still something different about the two. If any of you have both, maybe you can shed some light on it.

Thanks again, Terry

Yes, the UB series preamps are noticably clearer and more transparent sounding. The MX preamps sound murky to me. I have a UB1204-PRO, which I modified with inserts so I can take the preamp signal directly for recording.

Yeah, if you are going to get one of the two go with the UB series, it's a better overall mixer, the preamp is more smooth and it seems to have a little more headroom overall.
