I plan to film as much as i can and share the experience online and will also be tweeting throughout the weekend about the process were going through and such, so if anyone is interested or wants to criticize our massive oversights in the recording process, feel free!

Dec 24, 2010 03:20 am For everyone who's following this thread (and to bump it cough cough)
heres a condensed rundown of our setup this weekend. Bear in mind that were only doing demos and the spirit of the weekend is to experiment with what equipment we have and on how to use the spaces we find, so we dont have an amazing rig and were not expecting to capture amazing sounds and performances.
We're running two Focusrite Sapphire Pro 20s together for a total of 16 analog inputs into a Mac running Logic Pro. No extra pres or processing, just gonna be pure signal through the Focusrite pres (which sound great fyi).
We have an assortment of standard mics, including SM57s, 58s, 7bs, a Rode NT1A and a Behringer B1. Borrowed a drum mic set from a friend as well as some pencil condensors, will update when i see them.
Haven't really decided on which mics will go where yet, especially on drums, well have to experiment. On guitar cabs, gonna have a 57 on teh grill, 7B on the grill, and the B1 will be doing room/distance duties. Gonna see how mixing these mics works out, but if not odds are atleast one will capture a good sound.
Hit yall up with more later

Dec 26, 2010 12:31 pm Just got back, its currently 1 am and weve been working off of about 3 hrs sleep for two days but it was massively fun, just wanted to update u all
in the end we only got 2 songs out of 4 in the range of being done, we didnt get a ton of video done as well but i will post wat we have once its edited, there r a few up on twitter already plus a ton of photos
but all in all i think it was a gleaming success, we went in with literally the bare minimum and we got the sounds we wanted, the operative word being "wanted". in the end we probably arent rivalling any studios but we got the sounds that we wanted for our music in the way we liked and i think in the end thats all that matters. saying that however, i think we got some impressive stuff and ill be leaking bits and pieces over the next coupla days, we got a HUGE drum sound and some of the best guitars we've ever gotten. we learned a ton and i think next time we do this itll be faster and even better
so, continue to keep it here!
