which monitors

I'm looking to spend around $100 for a set of monitors. Here are some i've been looking at. M-audio bx5a's, Alesis M1, KRK rokit 5, m-audio v40... what do you guys think? I will be producing and recording in a room about 20x10

I think the only ones close to 100$ is the v40. That seems to have made your choice for you right there =).

Of the others, I'd probably lean towards the bx5a or rokit 5. I'd want to listen to both, or at least read a lot of research online.

Even the v40's are well above the $100 mark. With a $100 budget I don't think you are going to get anything that you can really trust.
