I just got myself a copy of Reaper. It's very new to me, and I'd appreciate some tips on how to get started (the basics).

1. Configuring the inputs of instruments, interface (I use a UX2)

2. Multi-track recording

3. Accessing the effects

4. Save the mixdown as .mp3 or .wav

And other fundamental Reaper stuff I forgot to mention. Thanks!

When using the UX2, download and install the ASIO4ALL driver and use that so you don't have a lot of (noticeable) latency. I have to switch back and forth between that driver my Korg driver if I'm using my PadKontrol. That's one thing to remember.

For a quick rundown:

1. Configuring the inputs of instruments, interface (I use a UX2)

CTRL-P gives preferences, Click audio->device, and select the first and last input (should be 1 and 2), or, maybe just select the device (UX2). Not sure which, should be easy to figure out.

2. Multi-track recording

Create 2 track (CTRL-T). For each, click on (enable) the ARM toggle, under the track number (far left). Now, click on the meter, and select which input you wish to 'listen' on.

3. Accessing the effects

On the track control panel, click the FX button, big list of effects show up, pick one that suits your needs.

4. Save the mixdown as .mp3 or .wav

After all things are great, click File -> Render (CTRL-ALT-R) and select your settings for render. Now that if you wish to render to MP3, you'll need to locate the LAME encoder and place this in your REAPER directory, usually C:\program files\reaper (I'm guessing)

Good luck, and have fun, I've been on reaper for quite awhile, and like it lots.
