UX2 for Recording Strings and Piano (Help?)

Intro:
I've recently purchased a UX2 to record on my laptop.

I use a Yamaha PSR 2100 keyboard (I record via line-in, not MIDI) and I plan to record piano and strings.

I use Cool Edit Pro 2.1 (rather old) as my recording software.

Main Concerns:

1. Ideal Set-Up to Record
I've barely any clue on what ideal set-up to use for such instruments (eg. virtual amp to use, compressor, EQ, preamp, presets, etc.)

2. Latency Reduction
I also am having trouble with latency (once I go beyond about 3 tracks). Any methods to deal with this issue?

Me personally, I would avoid any virtual BS to begin with as you can add it later via plugin. Just use the line ins and get a good clean capture.

Cool Edit does not support ASIO, I would look into Reaper or another DAW that does to relieve your latency issues.

I see what you mean with the ASIO. Reaper's audio configuration synced its ASIO to the UX2, which I guess is a good thing.

Hopefully, I learn how to use the interface of Reaper quickly. haha! Thanks so much!
