I can't install patch mix. I have the EMU 0404 USB interface. and I've installed all the software unforunately. What should i do? Should I take off proteus? and try to reinstall? My main goal is to try to get CUBASE running correctly. It won't really take my microphone input well that I have going into my EMU interface, however, other software programs are working fine. Any rocommendations?

Apr 19, 2010 09:44 pm We use the 0404 USB model in our practice space; I use the PCI-card 0404 in my home set-up. As far as I know, there is no Patchmix interface for the USB version--very weird, and it pisses me off a bit, but what you do get is the basic interface that lets you set the sample rate, bit-length, limiters, etc. You should see the little E-mu icon on your desktop; if you do, then start it up first(!), or it won't work, at least that's what we've discovered. So, turn on the computer, and then immediately power up the outboard USB interface. Next, open the software interface and set up the necessary parameters to make it compatible with the Cubase session you're running (the bitrate and samplerate). If Cubase "sees" the "USB L" and "USB" R (assuming you're not running the other two channels into another card via the optical or the S/PDIF), you should be good to go.
What would really be cool is if somehow I've missed the Patchmix interface on the USB model and it's been there the whole time . . . but really, I"m pretty sure they don't include that really useful GUI in the USB version. I wonder why . . . let me know if the above works, because we've become some kind of experts in dealing with the often-finnicky USB 0404. The PCI version has always been good to me.
