whats up guys...I am about to pick up this unit, and I have a question. First of all, I have heard that the only way to use this is, you must be recording, meaning you cant just plug and play? Also, I do have a DAW(Home Studio V. 7), isnt there a way I can just plug this unit, and come from my computer speakers, instead of picking up monitors?

It is more or less plug and play if u dnot consider installing drivers and the basic software much of a hassle. When ppl say u must be "recording" i think they mean the amp models that come with the unit. Line 6 gives u a bunch of amp and speaker and stompbox models in the software that comes with the UX2 but to use them in ur songs, u have to record through them, u cant insert them as plugins after recording ur track, thats probably wat ppl mean. But by all means u can just play with the models without having to record anything.

And yes u can connect computer speakers to the output of the UX2, if u have the right connectors n such (jacks) since the output of the UX2 from wat i remember r 1/4 jacks and most computer speakers r 1/8".

Edit: I said can insert them before, i meant cant, but it seems like u got the gist

Alright thats what I thought...I plan on recording with this unit, and its just nice to be able to arrange my setup, and then record with it. This was more of a "make sure" topic. Rather be safe then sorry.

You can do a lot of really cool stuff with this interface.

You can run your speakers to it directly, or like you said right into the DAW you're using.

And actually you can use the Pod Farm as a plug-in. It's .dll can be found somewhere, I can't remember. Insert it and you can do any amp modeling you want. But keep in mind, if you're going to do that, you better record DI! Which is also possible!
