hi is it possible to adjust my motor speed so i can reduce the current speed thats its on 15ips to say a lower speed of 1 7/8 IPS ?

Not on the R8, the A8 could do 3 3/4IPS, 7 1/2IPS, & 15IPS, I don't know of any reel to reel though that would do 1 7/8IPS, thats cassette speed. It's the capstan that controls the speed of the tape thru the machine, trying to slow the motor would probably just result in a burnt out motor.
