Scratchy artifact in sonar with MOTU896

This was part of a previous post, but I felt it might be better at reaching more people if the topic was listed as such...

I have the motu896 linked into my PC with M-Audio BR8 monitors directly connected to the MOTU with brand new XLR cables. (I have validated that it isnt a cable issue at the request of another poster here). I run Sonar 7 and updated my MOTU firewire drivers to the latest from their website.

I disabled the onboard sound card (RealTek). However, whenever I am running audio out of the monitors (or headphoes for that matter)... using Sonar... there is this scratchy artifact coming through the left speaker randomly... when I shut sonar down... and use the CuemixFX software that came with the MOTU... nothing crazy comes through the montitors... no scratchy... WTF!!!! THIS IS DRIVING ME NUTS!!!!!!!

Any help would be greatly appreciated... Im wondering if there is a Sonar patch... or if the MOTU isn't playing nice with Sonar... i was so excited to get the motu... I would hate to have to replace it with something else... ( At this point im almost certain its not the actual MOTU hardware... but an issue its having with Sonar and the windows drivers.)

Im running XP SP2 on an AMD quad core processor running at 2.6GHZ. I have 2GB memory (upgrading eventually but not likely an issue at this point since im not doing alot of post processing or using a ton of soft synths or anything... just a mic and a guitar... ).

Since its occuring with both my headphones AND the monitors... and its on ONLY the left side... i am more than curious.

Thanks in advance.

Good to hear the motu works fine by itself, bad to hear it's not playing nice with Sonar (or vice versa). Maybe just try out reaper real quick to see if the problem pops up in another DAW?
