I've been using the UCA200 for a while now and it's... okay... for the price.
I'm wanting to upgrade to something that allows more than one input (i.e. no matter how many inputs are plugged into your desk they only consume one channel on my DAW). I'd like to avoid firewire, its kind of expensive, I want something that for example will let me edit the individual sounds of a drum kit as seperate tracks (kick, snare, toms etc.).
Is firewire the only way around this? Or is there even a way to do it with the UCA?
Any help is appreciated.

Feb 23, 2010 04:43 pm good stuff :P im looking for similar, i would like something that offers more than 2 channels that PT will let me use, without buying like a 002 -_- and i only have one firewire port :S and my HDD is already in that lol, so i really cant win in this situation XD, anyone use this line6 gear? i tend to stear away from line6 but if its got good reviews i'd defiantly give it a go
Feb 23, 2010 10:38 pm dbmasters hit the nail on the head. The Line 6 UX8 unit is amazing!!! I just got mine 2 weeks ago and love it! Not only do you get the the 8 inputs, but you also get Line 6's award winning Gearbox and pod farm software and the plugin versions of both FREE with the unit. That basically means if you record electric guitars at all, you can pick a tone on the fly just to track with, but record it 100% dry and change it on the fly in your DAWS on the fly until you get the tone you want.
It all runs on one USB 2.0 connection, and has great low latency. If you have any questions on the unit, myself and CrTripps on here both use them.

Feb 25, 2010 03:54 pm Yeah, the UX8 has been solid on XP home/pro, media center 2005, Vista 32/64 and Windows 7 32/64 (even though there are no true win7 drivers).
Shop around, I've seen em around $400 (would not buy used though unless you verify 100% they transfer the plugs and model packs).
