I was looking around trying to find a good audio interface and I wanted to see what people's opinions where on the ones I was looking into buying. So far, I'm having to decide between three different ones.
1. Digidesign Digi 003 Rack+ Factory --- $1,549.00 at zZounds.com
2. MOTU 896MK3 --- $995.00 at zZounds.com
3. M-Audio Profire 2626 --- $699.00 at zZounds.com
I like the 003 because it also comes with Pro Tools, which I'm already pretty familiar with using. And it's just a sexy lookin interface by itself. As for the 896 and 2626, I like how you can do just about the same stuff as the 003 and you can run other DAWs on them.
I'm not worried about the prices for each one, I want to be able to start recording some good quality stuff. I'm pretty familiar with Pro Tools as I've been using it to record full bands with the D-Command at my school. I am also familiar with using Apple's Logic, and I'm starting to use Digital Performer as well.
I just have some questions about the interfaces though, and I'm hoping somebody can clear it up with me. I want to buy an interface that will allow me to run PRO TOOLS, LOGIC, AND DIGITAL PERFORMER on it. I've done some research and have found that Digidesign hardware only runs Pro Tools and nothing else. That kinda sucks, but I've also read that with the right [drivers?] you can run also Logic and DP on it. Correct me if I'm wrong. And when it comes to the 896, obviously it's made by MOTU so you can run DP on it. I just want to know if you can also run Pro Tools on it (M-Powered because LE only works with Digi Hardware) as well as Logic. Then there is the 2626 which will run M-Powered Pro Tools, but like the other interfaces I want to know if it will run the other DAWs Logic and Digital Performer.
Obviously there are much better interfaces out there, but if anybody knows of one that can do the tasks that I want it to do, has great capabilities, and is around the same price region feel free to throw it out there. Or if you even own any of these, feel free to tell me how you like it.
Thanks everybody!!!
