Here's the specs. Modest to be sure, but for $570-ish before shipping, it's not a bad build at all.

Case: CoolerMaster Centurion 5 (the one without the window)
CPU: AMD Phenim II X2 3.1Ghz dual-core
RAM: G.Skill DDR3 1600 RAM (4GB total, motherboard supports up to 16G)
Motherboard: Gigabyte MA770T-UP3
PSU: OCZ Fatal1ty 550W 25A on the 12V rails
GPU: EVGA GeForce 9800 GTX+
HDD: Western Digital WD3200AAJS Sata 3.0Gb/s 320GB @ 7200RPM

Still using 32bit XP for the OS.

I'm still using the DVD burner from the other machine. Philips with lightscribe, but I forget the model number. And of course, got my trusty Audiofire 4 going too. :)

I'm planning on getting a 2nd HDD to throw in, but I don't know if I'll set up RAID yet or not.

Running cool and quiet here. :)
Got a lot of catching up to do with reloading software, but that can wait til after work tomorrow. At least now my music will be more tolerable having a buncha VST going in the DAW. :)

Those specs are about the same as what I built; except mine has the cheapest graphics card I could find that had an HDMI out. I'm totally happy with mine; zips through Protools very well...but I'm thinking REAL hard about switching to Windows 7. We use it at work and I used to have it on my netbook before it was stolen. I hear M-Audio drivers are working pretty well on 7; at least as well as M-Audio drivers ever work.

RAID is for sissies.

Hehe, Raid is for Sissies...

Thing is Jbot, to get that second hard drive and setup raid you will need to reinstall your OS, software, etc...

Now, if you have access to Symantec ghost you could image your pc, configure raid, and then re-image to the raided HDD's. Would save tons of time if you do.

Anyway, nice system for sure, congratz!

Update:

Just got better too. My mobo's bios just happened to have the hybrid option for the ACC. My dual-core just became a fully functional quad-core. I guess mine was one of the lucky ones. Temperature is staying fairly low too.

I'm a happy camper. And on the raid config. yeah, I realize that I'd have to re-install. I have vmware set up on my server here, but using it to create an image is something I'd have to research. I have a good base build with a game, FL Studio, some monitoring/reporting tools for the hardware stuff, and that's it. Should be a good clean system to image, but we'll see.

Anyway, yeah, I'm a happy camper for sure.

Don't need Ghost or anything fancy, just xcopy with switches.

xcopy /h /i /c /k /e /r /y

I tried to replace ghost at my company using that command from a network bootable WinPE build. Worked awesome except I couldn't figure out multicasting.

Yeah, well, no biggy. All I care is that I can actually load more than 4 tracks and use some of my higher-end VST effects and sims without everything boiling down into an audio dropout mess.

Not to mention actually use some of the more recent plugins which weren't compatible with my old processor, so...woot!
