Hi everyone. I'm new to HRC but i need someones help I'm desperate
this is the problem. I bought a new yamaha mw10c usb mixer to use solely with garage band but when i go to record the live instrument track it seems to be also recording the beat, along with any other previously recorded tracks, live or midi. No i'm not doing anything as dumb as enabling the recording on other tracks, and i dont even have the mic hooked up yet so i know its not the mic recording from the headphones. this is the second compact usb mixer I've bought and I'm still having the same problem. garage band seems to be doing the imposable by somehow recording all previous tracks onto the new live instrument track which really messes up the mix by not letting me listen to vocals acapella, raising the volume of the beat and destroying my mix. can anyone help me with this problem?
please tell me something i haven't already tried.

I'm not familiar with your mixer, or USB mixers in general, but it sounds like that is where the trouble lies. It seems like the output from GarageBand is going back in to the mixer and being re-routed and input back into GarageBand. Take a good look at how your mixer is routing sound coming from your computer. That's all I can think of...

holy cow your absolutely right! thats exactly whats happening! I went to garageband preferences as well as system preferences and changed the output back to my computers output and left the mixer as the input now i cant use my mixer to run my speakers or headphones but hey it worked its not re- routing the beat anymore and i can listen to clear vocals again thank you guitar jim for helping me to think outside of my little box.
