hi there,

just upgraded from 1202 to a 1642 vlz3. so far it is a nice mixer with lots of advantages but one thing is strange:

when control room pot and solo pot are both opened a distorted signal of all incoming signals of all channels - regardless if muted or subbed - is send to the c/r out. more or less to one side.

is that fine?

just would like to know if this is a common and known issue or if the mixer is already ready for repair.

best regards!

I do seem to remember that Mackie use to share the control room, and the headphone on the same opamp.

So, when both are active, the opamp is over taxed, and distortion would be the end result.

I think that I still have an active Mackie login support ID. I'll see if I can download the schematic, and find out if they still share the opamp.

Mackie changed their web site yet again........

Anyway, I did find the PDF of your mixer. And according to the manual, there is an issue with running the control room, and soloing anything at that point. Due to the fact that they share the same opamp.

Here is a link to the PDF. I found the issue under control room and phones control.

Hope this helps.

hello rob,

happy new year!

thanks man! just need to find out if there is improvement between the pro and vlz3

have been at the dealer and checked the same mixer in comparison, they have it all.

maybe its an issue caused by (my) unbalanced connection to the monitors, the crosstalk was audible in the shop but not as loud as mine at home.

by changing the mode to pfl it reduces a bit, but still there.

then i will live with it, need this function not really often ...

cheers!
