I have been looking at ezdrummer lately and was planning on getting it very soon. But then today, I was on musicians friend and saw that for the same price I can get superior drummer 2.0.

Can somebody tell me what the differences are and which one I should get?

Thank you very much.

While I can't tell you which one you should get. That is something only you can decide by your needs and the type of music you will be doing. I can tell you that if you are not a fairly tech savvy person and might need tech support for the SD 2.0 you should read this thread first.

On the other hand I know many have had extremely good luck with if and love it. There are a good deal of expansion packs for it and it is a pretty easy to use app. But EZ is fairly straight ahead to use as well.

Haha, thanks for linking my post noize :] that made me laugh.

If you do end up buying from toontracks, i'd skip posting for help on their site and just come here haha. They still haven't replied to my inquiry. Jeeze all i even asked for in that thing was a phone number to help me, is that really so much to ask?

But anyway, if you're set on superior or ez drummer, i'd go for superior. Though i haven't used both, i do know superior has much more control over the mics. And if the manual is correct, buying expansion packs somehow lets you have this same control with the new sets.

To be honest i wasn't real blown away with the selection of sounds available with superior, but the mic control compensates. And i guess thats why they make expansion packs haha. I think i'm buying the drumkit from hell in several months :]

That all being said, still look into other drum software for the same price. I chose superior but i was still a tad unorganized and maybe one of the other programs out there does a better job for the price.

Your welcome Fragile. I figured it was at last something to think about.

But indeed, in the end SD 2.0 does have a good deal more control. I'll agree there.

I just did the crossgrade from EZ to Superior since it was on special. I'd definitley go with Superior over EZ, especially with both the same price right now. Superior does have a steeper learning curve because of the all the options, but sound wise I think you'll be happier with Superior. In the end you'll have to decide for yourself though.

You might also want to check out Addictive Drums which in complexity falls somewhere inbetween, but it has a great sound as well. They have a free demo you can try. www.xlnaudio.com If I hadn't already bought EZ I think AD is the one I would have gone with.
