a great mic and decent pre? Just curious as to what people vaule more in there setup?

Any mic is only as good as the preamp driving it.

Undoubtedly, I'd rather run a 'humble' mic (SM58 for example) through a 'wonderful' preamp (uh - ummm... A Langevin? API? LaChappel? True? The list goes on...) than a 'wonderful' mic (U47FET) through a POS preamp.

Ya, I would have to same the same.... a crappy pre-amp will suck the life out of the very best mic

Very cool - appreciate the feedback. I am currently using a Blue baby bottle and Focusrite Voicemaster platinum. Both I think are decent (although I'm sure others on here would disagree) and I like the result I am getting.

I'm not in any position to upgrade either at the moment but thought I would at least ask so I can start doing some research on what I should be looking at so I am educated when I am in a posotion to buy
