Blackmore touched on this, back in '73...

... but not like that.

I saw that a while back. It's fast, I'll give him that. His guitar tone sounds like some Crate practice amp or something though. I hope that he got some sort of cash award for breaking the hand-speed record so he could buy a new amp that doesn't sound like a 15-year-old in his bedroom!

I guess there's always the guys that are going to take this kind of thing to its farthest, but jeez I can't say that "bumblebee" at 320 bpm inspired me in any way.

I've always thought of shredding and speed as being as important to music as it would be to painting. Now it would be interesting to see somebody paint a picture at 320 brush strokes per minute, but in the end it would only impress me if it produced a beautiful painting.

The same goes for music. It's interesting and sometimes even impressive to see somebody as technically proficient as this fellow, and hats off to him for putting in the rehearsal and practice time and effort to work up to that silly of a speed. But in the end, it didn't produce a work of art that was interesting, inspiring, or really in any way musical so in my book its wasted talent.

I'm impressed...but I see where Tad is coming from. It's certainly a feat of physical ability rather than musicianship...but if he uses that physical ability as a tool rather than a defining characteristic...

either way...SWEET! FotB at 320 bpm is like staring at a two headed baby.

Yep, not to gripe but I will. On the amp thing with Tadpui, there is no definition to the notes at all really, even at the slower speed's.

Is ti cool and amazing, ya it is. He is skilled without a doubt. But can he play anything else that fast. Like say Yngwie or Steve or Joe?

Not dissing on the dude at all, because I never could and never will play that fast.

All in all its pretty cool though.

This I DO agree with you on, Noize... : p

... I can't feel a thing when there's so many notes, so damned fast... just so meaningless in my eyes.

I'd give him an A+ for technical proficiency, but even at 170bpm there wasn't really much in the way of melody that I heard. The most impressive part to me was the right hand, even playing a single note, being that solid on timing is a feat in itself that would be difficult for most I think. I can appreciate the skill but I've never been impressed with sheer speed in playing.

Deon, if you pause the player for a bit it will keep buffering. Then play it all the way through.

the compys on mine sites are slllllllllooooooooowwwwwwww man. real slow.

mmm, well there was talk about the vid being fake and i agree.
IMO, they nearly got away with it, expect the muting was too ledgeable for that speed.

just my thoughts though.
