Jul 31, 2009 01:16 pm well, there seems to be some sort of registration involved, and then you must 'purchase a bid', to place a bid... I don't know, but something doesn't seem right.
Jul 31, 2009 01:24 pm You have to Register with them. And when an opening comes up, they will email you.
To register, just click on a category and fill out the form.

Jul 31, 2009 01:30 pm I did that too, but I'm wondering if someone has invitations to give out like Gmail used to do before it went public. The whole "Leave a message and we'll get back to you with registration information ASAP" thing is what Google did with gmail too, but invitations circulated among my networking class before the service officially opened for business
No doubt when this thing goes public the prices will skyrocket.

Aug 01, 2009 07:49 pm No invitations around. IT is NOT like gmail, nor does it appear to have any kind of reputation at all. I would wonder why there isn't any contact info, even if they are not open for business yet you would think there would be some kind of contact page????????
But you must purchase your bids at $0.60 each. That would be 50 bids for $30. I've easily wasted 50 bids on ebay in several hours. Although I don't see them having day long bidding it would still be easy for them to automate a bidding scam and they walk away with thousands of dollars in what you and others paid to be able to bid on gear.
I would question if there is any gear or if this is a scam. Do a google on them and there is nothing at all, and I mean nothing, even searching by their .com name.
Aug 01, 2009 09:55 pm I've seen 1 or two auctions that work simular to how I think this one will. "Swoopo being one of them. One way that they really make big money is to have 1 cent increment bid auctions sometimes. Each bid would still cost you 0.60 each. It's not unusual to have thousands of bids in an auction like that. So a 1000 bids = $600, so if it happens to be a $250 item that goes cheap with thousands of bids they still do well. And thats only in a penny auction. Maybe not the best explanation but I hope you can see how they can work. there have been suspicions with some auctions like that, of having internal bidders keeping the clock going. But I'll take a look at it for fun anyway. Somebody still gets a good deal possibly.

Aug 01, 2009 10:31 pm I suppose, I'm just always skeptical when I see a web site with absolutely no contact info and important things like that.

Aug 01, 2009 11:42 pm Bluesdues hit the nail on the head. These sites are only after your money. Who is going to check if somebody really won the bid? They may not even have the items available that they're showing, it's just pictures on a site after all...
Like Noize said, be sceptical, VERY sceptical!

Aug 03, 2009 08:53 pm I don't believe this for a minute. Everytime I refresh the page the auction items start at the same remaining time. Might be one of these places that charge huge amounts for shipping. You buy for $1 but pay $200 for shipping. Something does not seem right with this.
