I was seriously considering the Mackie hr824's to replace my Alesis M1's...but I remember you guys said you love your Events. It just so happens a pair was posted on Craigslist today in my hometown. They don't list a model, just pics...

I can vouch for WYDs Events.. the 8" ones they are. They are some of the nicest monitors I've had the pleasure to work through. If I was monitor-shopping, and found a good deal on these, I wouldn't hesitate at all.

Sorry, I couldn't help-but answer to this thread... they were sweet. lol

ugh! those are ASP's which are every bit as good as my 20/20's only they have a tweeter diffuser so the sweet spot isn't so dang tight, which is good...and they're glossy black! i've always wanted to get a pair of 'em only mine work just fine....

they are definitely on par with the hr824's i've worked on 824's plenty of times and i like 'em enough....thing is dang near everything just plain' sounds good on 'em (which is not what ya want) but after ya get used to 'em they're fine....go with what yer budget allows....

i'd lean towards the events but of course i'm a bit biased. i've had my events for commin' up on 8 years now, and have had not one single problem with them...i have sent an 824 off for re coning before...but im not sure how the woofer on that thing went out, it was DOA at a studio i was workn' for..

as for the ASP8's i love them, never worked on 'em but have heard 'em and they pretty much picked off where the 20/20's left off, and came out with a better product.

as for what's on ebay those actually might be 6's it's real hard to tell but the 8's are quite big monitors and those in the pic look a bit small....hit the guy up and see if they're 6's or 8's

I just got press releases that Cakewalk released a couple nearfield monitors today...small ones, 7 and 15 watt, which for small nearfields is enough, decent price points too, may be worth checking into...

wow cakewalk monitors ay? i wonder if Roland makes 'em or somethin'....

also i wanted to add if yer room is less than 250 square feet (15x15) there's really nothin' wrong with the 6's....the lows will roll off around 100k or so, but i've actually learned for my setup (see my profile) my monitors are a bit big, i rarely get to crank 'em up to 75% so i've actually decided my next one's are gonna be of the 6" variety...prolly ASP6's LOL...

At $375, I'm going to listen to them and if they sound as good as you guys say...I'm taking these puppies home.

They are 6"...but for $375 it seems like a good deal. I have a hilariously tiny space to work in (12x15ish) so it will probably be sufficient for a while anyway...

oh yeah, i'd go for 6's over 8's in smaller rooms for sure....and yeah 400 for a pair of ASP6's is a GREAT deal for sure....make sure they work before you buy 'em....other than that, i think you found yerself some new monitors.

I'd get em. thoughs are some nice monitors. I've had my events since 02 and they rock, i'm bias too. I've got a pair of 6.5" and thet work just fine . my control room is not too big and i get pleanty of low end . the trick is to get to know the monitors and listen to a lot of CD's you already know by hart and reference that. Makie makes some nice stuff too. I want to pick up a mackie control .
