Jul 29, 2009 08:37 pm What chip is the firewire controller using, and are you referring to the Multi-mix as your device?
More the likely it is either a driver conflict, but if your getting BSOD then it is probably hardware conflict. And that would mean your firewire controller chip is not on the approved list of chips for that device. That or your running a 6 pin device with a 4 pin connection or cable.
Jul 29, 2009 10:45 pm I narrowed the problem down to the Host controller for the firewire card because disabling it eliminates the system crash when powering the mixer. There is a list of firewire cards on the Alesis website but the list is very small. (only two manufactures are mentioned). Belkin is one of them. the Belkin Firewire is more than twice what I paid for the Roswell card but I think that herin lies the problem. Unless the mixer itself is faulty. Right?? So I am having a compatibility issue then...

Aug 01, 2009 05:44 pm Yep, it sure sounds like that is the issue. TI chips are the most recommended chip in the firewire set up for the audio devices.
I would think they would have these issue's ironed out by now but it appears to be a non issue trying to get their devices to work with other firewire chip makers.
My personal opinion is that the warning should be printed on all boxes and or websites in huge block letter's that anyone looking at these units be aware that it may not work with their current firewire set up.
And it is a sales person to blame for not telling the customer as well to check their card first.
