No sound from Cubase LE4

I'm recording using a TASCAM US-144 and using Cubase LE4 on my PC to process the sound. TASCAM is working fine and the .wav files Cubase generates are audible using Windows media player.

However, I can't hear anything when I try to playback what I recorded using Cubase.

Even when I try to play the demo projects that shipped with Cubase, I can't hear anything.

Hit F4 and make sure your outputs are assigned to the Tascam 1 and 2.

Is your ASIO configured? If this is your first time around Digital Recording software tell me what ASIO driver your software is currently set to use.

Hi StillfireRecords.

My ASIO Driver is set to US-122L/US-144. I followed the install instructions (for both TASCAM and Cubase LE4) to the letter.

What do you have coming out of the TASCAM for speakers? If you are thinking that the projects will play through your computer speakers that could be the problem.

Beings your DAW is pointed at the Tascam, it will use that to capture and playback from it's 1&2 outputs. ASIO only supports one device at a time.

You will need to do one of the following...

1) Plug some headphones into the Tascam, not the best way but would allow you to hear playback while recording additional tracks.
2) Route the 1&2 outputs from the tascam to the line in on your PC soundcard using a two 1/4" to 1/8" stereo cable. You would still need headphones while tracking to avoid sound bleed into your mics.
3) Plug in some powered monitors to the 1&2 outputs on the Tascam (best option for mixing). Once again, you will still need phones for tracking.

If you just want to listen you could open the project and then tell Cubase to use your windows sound card.

Telling Cubase to use my Windows sound card sounds like the best fit. I'll try and figure that out.

Thanks CptTripps.

your interface IS your soundcard when it's set up and working - plug the speakers into it instead. It'll still work as your Windows soundcard too (I'm guessing as this is how my 2 interfaces work).
