Hi. I'm using Logic Pro 8 with a tascam us 122 interface, and when I insert my external fx with the utility I/O it just makes a horrible feedback sound. I have followed the instructions for connecting fx to the channel insert slot in Logic, but the results are not good. If anyone can help me with this I would greatly appreciate it.

Jun 20, 2009 05:19 pm Can you explain your exact routing, cables and all? I use external FX routing in Sonar with no problems at all and I would assume Logic should be the same. I am wondering if there is something not letting the signal route out to the FX processor and your simply routing digitally straight through from output to input.
Jun 20, 2009 06:51 pm Hi. Yes. Thanks for your response. Output 1 and 2 from the tascam plug into the back of an ART sgx 2000 fx processor via rca to 1/4" cables that I think are unbalanced. Left and right output from the processor go into left and right input in the tascam via two 1/4" cables, also unbalanced. There are left and right insert jacks on the tascam but they don't work with logic. The insert slot on the channel strip is straightforward. I can hear the effects, but the signal is looping and feeding back. I think what it might be is this tascam is made for windows and not mac. I'm thinking of getting a motu interface, although if you can recommend one that you know for sure works with external fx and logic around $500 or less, that would be perfect.

Jun 20, 2009 09:36 pm Ya, the inserts on that unit are meant to be directly in line with the inputs, not used in a loop fashion like your trying. I wonder if there is a monitor switch in Logic that needs to be turned off as its causing a feedback loop as it might be playing back what it is hearing on the inputs and that would cause an issue like that.
