fine tuning system for big concert

I've posted this in 1 other forum, but I figured I would come here and get some feedback as well.

I've re-routed my system completely... went from
2 Community 15's as mains
4 PV 115's as side fills
2 EV 18's bandpass subs
1 Yamaha 218 ported sub

which I have now changed to this

8 SP2-G's (The G model does not have the angled horn)

I took the drivers from my bandpass subs and built a box for them identical to my Yamaha. They sound so much better like this. In fact, I think I'm going to change the drivers in the Yamaha to the same ones and then build 2 more boxes to put more EV drivers in... resulting in 4 218 boxes.

2 QSC RMX 1450's
1 QSC RMX 850
4 CS-800's
plenty of stereo xovers and 31 band EQ's
1 Behringer 8 channel tube pre-amp
1 Behringer 2 channel tube pre-amp/comp
a couple of 2 channel comp
2 sm58's
2 Sennheiser e835
4 PVM 22's
decent drum mics w/ MXL condenser for snare and a couple more for overhead
Yamaha MG2414FX 24-Channel mixer
1- 32 channel 150 ft snake
2- 16 channel 150 ft snakes

I'm considering getting some cheap gates for drums at least... but I'm not sure where gates would be most effective. I thought about running all my condensers into a pre-amp and EQ to get rid of 90% of the monitor frequencies they're getting and then into a gate... what do you think?

Also, I'm thinking about making my own sub-kick... I've heard some homeade ones and they sound so amazing.

Here's how I plan to set up....

6 (maybe all 8) SP2's 3 per side. 2 side by side with backs touching and about 8 inches of a gap in the front... then the 3rd centered on top and turned upside down.

those of course setting on top of 2 218 cabinets standing upright on each side...

Any suggestions? Am I on the right track?

aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa.
OK, that being said....(quote)I'm considering getting some cheap gates for drums at least... but I'm not sure where gates would be most effective. I thought about running all my condensers into a pre-amp and EQ to get rid of 90% of the monitor frequencies they're getting and then into a gate... (/quote) the answer to that would be 1) any gate that opens and closes will do the job, and 2) nope, the rest of that is just crazy talk. Then the thing about stacking tops horn to horn. you dont want to do that either. look up combing. Get a book on sound system basics. Yamaha used to make a good one. Also (quote)plenty of stereo xovers and 31 band EQ's(/quote) Im not quite understanding why you need "plenty" of stereo crossovers ????

First of all, by stereo I only mean 2 channel. All my EQ's and crossovers have 2 channels.

And I know plenty about comb filtering. The purpose of stacking them like that is to stop that from happening.
