i have recently received a midi master II cable for my microkorg. i have been trying to record onto audacity but some how i can't do it. i can not find the microkorg for a starter.
what can i do?
do i need a different program?
am i doing something wrong?
am i getting everything wrong?

Jun 01, 2009 08:17 pm I'm not an expert on midi or midi cables, but when u say "record" do u mean record sounds from ur micokorg or just use it as an interface? if ur trying to record the sound of ur micokorg i dont think midi cables allow that, since they are connectors for "controlling" instruments. Unless teh midi cable is some kind midi to USB, but still then on the older microkorgs with that system i dont think it would show up as MicroKorg in ur computer, it would jsut be a generic interface.

Jun 01, 2009 10:13 pm Yep, midi is data and needs to be recorded to a midi track. That track inturn will either be played back through the micro-korg or through a software synth in your recording program.
If your trying to record its audio, then you simply need to hook its audio oututs to your audio interface's inputs.

Jun 02, 2009 07:36 pm yeah ull need audio cables (instrument cables), two if ur doing it in stereo. I think the MicroKorg uses 1/4" like guitars? could be wrong
