DELAY!!! I NEED HELP!

i have appleton live for recording software with an Alesis io/2 interface. when i record the guitar it plays through the speakers with a delay. this delay is making it very hard to record tracks on top it. if anyone has ideas on how to help, please let me know

Also, If monitoring through your software (to computer speakers) you will almost certainly hear delay. You need to be monitoring from your interface via headphones or monitors (you can hook comp speakers up with the right adapters).
