Hey,
I am new to digital recording; and I have an Alesis Multimix 8 Firewire Mixer plugged into my PC (Windows XP).
When I record an audio track I hear no problem: but when I play it back I get a clicking type static mixed up with the sound.
This may be a common or novel problem, I don't know (what I don't know).
Any good samaritans out there with an idiot-proof solution?
(Every teacher I ever had can't be wrong.)
Cheers,
Andy with an R.

Jun 01, 2009 09:47 pm Can you give us the specs of your PC, CPU speed and amount of RAM installed will help a great deal?
It sounds like a buffer setting, but the specs for the PC will help figure out were you should be set.
Jun 03, 2009 09:33 pm Thanks for responding, Noize2u. I somehow managed to cure the static problem (don't ask me how).
I now have the problem that I'm hearing both channels while I record, but only hear the left channel when I playback.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Andrew Richards

Cudgel thy brains no more about it: problem solved by paying a local whizz-kid to give me an hour of his time.
I thought I got the only one channel during playback problem because I was recording in Mono. In fact I was recording in Stereo from Mono instruments and thus only getting one channel in playback. (I didn't know how to toggle between the two anyway [in Sonar/Cakewalk]:
but now I do. But now I'm $30 [Australian] poorer.
Shine on you crazy diamonds,
Andy with an R.

Jun 04, 2009 07:00 pm Sometimes that is what it takes. Even though I'm very capable of doing most electrical repair on some of my gear I still prefer to send it out. Same with guitar set up. I am capable, but I would rather dole out the cash to have it done proper.
