Hello,
I am looking to get a set of custom earbuds since my odd shaped ears dont fit any type of regular earpiece.
I am trying not to spend a ton of money. So far the only ones ive found that are reasonably priced are ones made by LIVEWIRE and another made by ALIENEARS. both seem to run around 250 -300.
Alienears look like they come with a do it yourself ear impression kit and the livewire does not. Im not really sure what this would cost to have done at an audiologist but i cant see it being cheap.
Does anyone have any recommendations or know of the quality of these two models?
Thanks

Jun 01, 2009 06:20 pm If you have someone to help you the DIY kit would be OK. I've not heard their PEM's yet nor do I know anyone using them. They look pretty reputable.
Just to make a point though I'll toss this out.
Years ago I had custom made earplugs done up, a bit to late to save my ears but had em done no less.
The cost back then was about $250 just for the plugs. Now those were made to allow a much clearer picture thne just regular stuffed ears though.
But last year we purchase my son a pair of Shure ones that were $200 without the custom fit. So you pay for a bit more performance in the end.

They have a DIY kit that you send to them. And they keep them on file for you.
